Vidya Balan felt targeted at an Awards Night
Bollywood actress Vidya Balan often remains in the limelight for her strong character and outspoken style. This time too, Vidya Balan has made a place in the headlines for her outspoken style. Recently the actress has given an interview, where Vidya (Vidya Balan) has shared the story of an award show. Vidya Balan says she felt ‘targeted’ at an awards night. Vidya received ‘Na-Real’ Award? Felt bullied says Vidya
Vidya Balan Movies has recently given an interview to Samdish, where Vidya Balan shared the story of an award show after the film ‘Hey Baby’. Vidya Balan said in the interview- “He (organizer) wanted to give me a non-real (in fun segment) award, so I said – why me? My clothes are not my choice, right? At that time I was new to giving any opinion. So he said- No, we are giving you this award only for the fun segment. So I said- Okay, I will share this with my director and costume designer. So he said- No, you will not do this. And then I thought – this is not right.”
Vidya Balan Interview told- “As soon as she reached the venue, she came to know that the other actress who was earlier being given the Na-Real Award, had backed out. Then she felt targeted and decided to take the name of her director and costume designer while accepting the award on stage.” Vidya further said, “This incident had broken her and she felt like she was being bullied.”
Vidya had completely broken down
Vidya also said in the interview- “That night, I was broken. I was devastated because I was so alone. I realized that yes, it does make a difference when you don’t come from a film family…I felt like I had been bullied at that time. It was, without any doubt it was. Because I come without any special protection, you can’t do this…I thought it was a joke so it’s okay. But when I realized that I was the only one being made fun of, it was not funny at all.”
Vidya shared her views on Nepostism
Previously, Vidya shared her candid views on the topic of nepotism and how it affected her. She said, “Nepotism or no nepotism, I am here. Kisi ki baap ki industry nahi hai, nahi toh har baap ka beta, har baap ki beti successful hote (The film industry does not belong to anyone’s father, else every star kid would be successful).”
The actor further added, “I have been happy doing my own things. There were times when I felt like, ‘Maybe if I had the protection of certain people, people would have been a bit kinder in those phases.’ But in terms of opportunities, I don’t think anybody has been able to deny me my share.”

Do Aur Do Pyar, recently released in theatres, features Vidya Balan. This was Vidya’s first release of 2024 post Neeyat (2023). She will also be seen in Anees Bazmee’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, starring Kartik Aaryan and Tripti Dimri in pivotal roles.
