23rd March, Mumbai: Today marks the 47th birthday of former HRD Minister Smriti Irani, an inspiring figure who has achieved many successes throughout her political career. Smriti Irani was born on March 23, 1976, in a middle-class family in Delhi, India. She began her career as a television actor in the popular show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, and went on to become a household name.
In 2003, she made her foray into politics and was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2011. She served as the Minister of Textiles in the Narendra Modi government (BJP)and later, as the Minister of Human Resource Development. Throughout her political career, Smriti Irani has been an advocate for women’s rights, providing the necessary impetus for the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao program and the National Nutrition Mission. She has also been a vocal supporter of the Right to Education Act and has initiated several initiatives to increase the enrollment of students in higher education.
In her tenure as the HRD Minister, Smriti Irani made several efforts to improve the quality of education in India. She worked to reform the education system, introducing measures to strengthen the infrastructure and to ensure that students are adequately equipped with the skills required for the job market.
