Kaushik Chakravorty – the favourite on-screen doctor

Actor Kaushik Chakravorty, who is currently seen as Dr. P. Chokroborty in Nilanjana Purkayasstha and Herumb Khot’s Dhadkan Zindaggi Kii, shares his experience of playing a doctor more than once.
He has been acting as a doctor in shows, ads and web series since 2003.
“In fact, my first role in Bollywood was that of a terrorist disguised as a doctor. This was in 2003 for Sakshi. I played a doctor in the web series Criminal Justice – 2 as well. So yes, I do understand the nuances of the role very deeply. And also because I come from a family of doctors from Bengal since the 1930s,” he said.
The USP of his latest show is not it’s genre but the storytelling, the writing, the art, the direction, the casting by Janet and the performances, he said. “And for me, it’s about being on the set, performing the lines which are so well written,” he shared about the show produced by Nilanjana Purkayasstha and Herumb Khot of Invictus T Mediaworks along with Studio Next.
He has friends who visit doctors in multiple hospitals, so he often visits their workspace. “Hospitals should always be very clean, hygienic and spacious. The Dhadkan creative team and art directors have done a fabulous job. The show looks so chic. With long corridors and multiple shooting sets and locations, the feel is very royal on the set and while watching the show,” he said.
According to him, we often hear doctors getting beaten up or shamed on videos. “This should change. After the pandemic, we all have a deep sense of gratitude for doctors for putting their lives in the front line,” he said.
He bonds the most with Ashwin Mushran, who plays Jamshed in the show. “Together we are the ‘Bald and Beautiful’ of the show,” he said.
