Rajkumaar Rao’s next
Rajkummar Rao is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film ‘Srikanth’ directed by Tushar Hiranandani. The movie is based on the life of Srikanth Bolla, the visually challenged leader and industrialist. The film is set to be released on May 10. Ahead of the release, the makers have unveiled the official trailer, which depicts a story of survival and perseverance.
Trailer
The trailer of this biopic starts with a question by the former president of India, APJ Abdul Kalam, to a group of students. While many express their wishes to become doctors, IAS officers, engineers, and more, Srikanth Bolla (played by Rajkumar) expresses his desire to become the first visually challenged president of India. This brings laughter to the whole classroom, but Kalam is impressed. The video also portrays some of the toughest phases he had to endure since childhood, from bullying to rejection.
Real struggle begins
The real struggle began when he was unable to choose his favourite subject, Science, as an option after the 12th board exams. Due to limitations in the education system for visually impaired individuals, he had to enroll in an arts college. Throughout this time, Srikanth receives support from his teacher, portrayed by Jyotika. He strives hard to gain admission to top universities worldwide.
Starts his own start-up
Later, he decides to start a start-up that provides jobs for many impaired people. Alaya F’s character is also featured in the trailer. In the final part of the video, Rajkumar can be seen preventing a person from giving money to visually impaired beggars at a traffic stop. Instead, he asks for the money, saying, ‘Give me the money; I will give them a job’.
Trailer Review
If anything, the trailer of ‘Srikanth’ promises a film that will inspire people. Rao has moulded himself into the character of Bolla and he looks convincing. I feel he is going to bag many awards for his honest portrayal of Srikanth Bolla. On the other hand, Jyotika has beautifully supported Rao in her role as his teacher. However, in my opinion, the love story angle of Bolla was not necessary. The movie would have been impactful even without exploring this angle of his life. The music was very average in the trailer. I’m hoping the songs are very good. The movie will be definitely inspiring and people will get very much motivated after watching it. Real life stories are not made very often, so this one is going to be a good one. So as of now the trailer is good and I liked it however the run time should have been bit shorter.
