Review:

Khurrana’s comedic prowess shines as he navigates the chaotic narrative, while Ananya Panday’s portrayal of Pari adds innocence to the film. However, the execution stumbles with inconsistent subplots and a lackluster second half. The promising humor starts strong but fades, leaving the comedy’s soul missing. Despite standout performances, the film struggles to maintain engagement, making it a mixed experience.

Performances

Ayushmann Khurrana’s portrayal of Karam, who transforms into ‘Pooja,’ is a testament to his comedic prowess. He effortlessly slips into the role of the quirky character, infusing life into the chaotic narrative. Khurrana’s performance is the film’s driving force, salvaging certain scenes with his impeccable timing and charisma.

Ananya Panday delivers a commendable performance as Pari, albeit within the constraints of her limited role. Her portrayal brings a touch of innocence to the character, enhancing the overall dynamics of the film. However, it’s evident that the romantic track could have benefitted from stronger writing to fully showcase her talents. While Panday’s performance is good, there remains room for improvement in terms of maximizing her potential within the narrative.

Supporting Cast Adds Flavour

The supporting cast, including Annu Kapoor, Vijay Raaz, Seema Pahwa, and more, injects doses of laughter into the film. Annu Kapoor’s witty one-liners and Vijay Raaz’s twisted dialogue delivery stand out. However, Paresh Rawal is underutilized, leaving the audience wanting more from his performances.

Storyline and Humour

A Comic Mishmash That Loses Track, While the premise holds promise, the film’s narrative struggles with consistency. The story introduces subplots for comic relief but fails to develop them effectively. As the film progresses, some subplots are forgotten, leaving loose ends in the storytelling. The rushed pacing indicates missed opportunities for better comedic setups and payoff.

The film’s humor starts strong but gradually falters, especially in the second half. The once-promising comedic scenarios lose steam, leaving viewers questioning the progression of events. The romantic track between Karam and Pari lacks depth, missing an opportunity to establish an emotional connection amidst the chaos.

Music And Climax

Dream Girl 2’s music falls short, with only “Dil Ka Telephone” making an impact. The climax’s forced monologue adds to the disappointment, lacking emotional resonance. The rushed pacing and half-hearted attempts to wrap up subplots prevent the film from reaching its full comedic potential.

Overall Review

Dream Girl 2, despite Ayushmann Khurrana’s standout performance, struggles to maintain the promised humor throughout its runtime. The inconsistent execution of subplots and a lackluster second half contribute to the film’s underwhelming impact. While it offers moments of laughter, the soul of the comedy seems missing, leaving viewers with a mixed experience. An OTT viewing may be preferable.
