7th February, Mumbai : Joyland, a much-discussed Pakistani film about gender identity, will soon be released in India. The movie, which received harsh criticism and was briefly banned in Pakistan by some groups, will premiere in Indian theatres on March 10, 2023.
Joyland is a risky, introspective movie starring Ali Junejo, Rasti Farooq, Alina Khan, Sarwat Gilani, Sohail Sameer, Salman Peerzada, and Sania Saeed that explores the difficult complexity of desire and gender identity through the perspective of the Rana Family.

As Pakistan’s official submission for Best International Feature Film at the Oscars in 2023, Joyland was submitted. Additionally, it was the first movie from the nation to be chosen for the Cannes Film Festival. It received the Un Certain Regard Jury Prize.
