26th April,2024, Mumbai: According to Akshay Oberoi, the fundamentals of journalism haven’t altered over time, and he is eagerly expecting the publication of the second season of the web drama series “The Broken News.”The performer portrays Ranjith Sabarwal, the head of a competing news channel. The actor revealed that he is a recent addition to the Jaideep Ahlawat and Sonali Bendre-starring series.
Talking about the show, Akshay Oberoi said the second season is based on fresh material!
Regarding the programme, the actor revealed that new material will be used for the second season. He stated, “Unlike the first season, which drew inspiration from the BBC show ‘Press’, Season 2 of ‘The Broken News’ is entirely original.”Oberoi went on to say: “It is not based on any prior material because, unfortunately, ‘Press’ did not warrant a second season.”
“We managed to secure a second season, making this a completely fresh story crafted by Vinay Wakul and Sambit Mishra,” Oberoi stated, detailing how the story for the second season came to be. It’s especially thrilling because of this, in my opinion, as original stuff is always deserving of notice.”
Akshay shared his opinion on the change that the profession of journalism has seen in the face of the rising use of the Internet and social media.
In response to questions on how the growing use of social media and the Internet has affected journalism, the actor stated that he does not believe there has been a major shift in the field. “Even now, there are agendas dictating what news gets reported and what doesn’t, just as they were back then,” he continued. Because I depend on the media and it depends on me, we have a pretty healthy relationship. I see it as a symbiotic relationship. I don’t think there has been a significant shift in journalism. Even if there are arguably more media outlets and material available now, the way I connect with them has changed. At first, I believed that I could just focus on my work and the media would take care of the rest.”
Akshay on actively interacting with social media and internet
But the actor was eager to correct that, saying that he learned that’s not how the world operates and that any artist must actively interact with the media. “I discovered that the media is crucial, particularly for emerging actors and voices seeking a platform,” said Oberoi.
That’s how I see things. The practice of sensationalised, derogatory headlines designed to get clicks is something I would like to see changed, if there is one thing. These headlines frequently misrepresent the substance of the articles,” he continued.
