Project Hail Mary is an upcoming American science fiction adventure film produced and directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and written by Drew Goddard, based on the 2021 novel by Andy Weir. It stars Ryan Gosling (who also produced the film), Sandra Hüller, James Ortiz, and Lionel Boyce. The film follows the story of Ryland Grace, a man who awakens on an interstellar spacecraft with no memory of how he came to be there. The film is all set to be released on 26 March 2026 in India.

Science teacher Ryland Grace wakes up alone on a spaceship light-year from Earth. As his memory returns, he uncovers a mission to stop a mysterious substance killing the sun, and save Earth. An unexpected friendship may be the key.

Science teacher Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) wakes up on a spaceship light year from home with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. As his memory returns, he begins to uncover his mission: solve the riddle of the mysterious substance causing the sun to die out. He must call on his scientific knowledge and unorthodox ideas to save everything on Earth from extinction… but an unexpected friendship means he may not have to do it alone.

The initial trailer shows heart, humor, and desperation from Grace, who is insistent on not having the fate of the world on his shoulders and is definitely not excited about traveling 11.9 light years to Tau Ceti to find answers as to why the sun and its neighboring stars are dying. Gosling shines in the trailer with his humanistic portrayal of doubt, frustration, and isolation —until the twist reveals that he has met an alien, who he names Rocky. In the final trailer, Grace not only helps Rocky find its voice but also solidifies their bond and persistence in saving both of their planets.

With dynamic talent, gripping storylines, and the world as we know it on the line, Project Hail Mary is poised to be the sci-fi film of the year.
