The nine days international film festival will begin from today onwards in Goa, and this is the 53rd ceremony taking place . Inaugural ceremony will start with the presentation of awards and honors to the stars who have performed well and has added a golden feather in the cap of bollywood industry.
This memorable ceremony will be attended by the Union Information & Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur, MoS I&B L Murugan, Goa Governor PS Sreedharan and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant ; awards and honors will be presented this evening i.e on Sunday 20th November.
Many celebrities will be attending this wonderful session and the best works will be awarded and promoted too.
Actors such as Pankaj Tripathi, Sunil Shetty, Ajay Devgan, Manoj Bajpayee and Prabhu Deva will be honored at this great event for their extraordinary works for the industry and the public as well .
There will also be a special announcement for the best Indian personality of the year award which in the past years has been won by the greatest and most loved actors of 80’s and 90’s such as Hema Malini, Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth and lyricist Prasoon Joshi in the past.
Rather than this short film on 75 years of Independence will also be released. This year an exhibition is also going to be organized there by the film And television institute of India exhibition which will represent the technology and various elements of cinema and aesthetics. Since it is an international film festival, therefore the Austrian film Alma and Oskar, directed by Dieter Berner, will also open this year’s edition; it has 280 films from 79 countries. This year the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement award is being given to Spanish film director Carlos Saura. Also part of the line-up is an eight-film retrospective dedicated to Saura.
France is the ‘Spotlight’ country this year, with eight of its films to be screened under the Country Focus package. Three films featuring Dadasaheb Phalke-awardee Asha Parekh – Teesri Manzil, Do Badan and Kati Patang – will be screened, while the festival closes on November 28 with Krzysztof Zanussi’s film Perfect Number.
To promote films from the North East, five feature and five non-feature films will mark the golden jubilee of Manipuri cinema.
