23rd April,2024, Mumbai: Anupama continues by saying that many more would be inspired to begin reading.
Anupama suggest to make changes in the educational materials
“We must make changes to our books. I remember from our school days that we studied Mughal history from the first to the tenth standard. “Many might argue that my proposal is unrealistic, but we need to reevaluate,” she states, adding that “the most important lesson I took away from the new Sony TV series ‘Kuch Reet Jagat Ki Aisi Hai’ is regarding dowries.” In Indian society, we have preserved the dowry system for centuries, viewing it as a custom. Change is conceivable, just like with Sati Pratha, which was eventually declared incorrect and eliminated. When was this modification made? That was when the British arrived in India and gave us the education we needed. In a similar vein, we can alter our books and produce new ones with more appealing covers.
Anupama asserts that one must keep up with the rapid advancement of technology.
“Having worked in the television and film industries, I’ve seen firsthand how companies like Netflix and Amazon Prime have altered the competitive landscape and set new standards. Similar adjustments are currently being made about ChatGPT’s influence on the competition. It appears that the time for educational reform is now.
She continues, “A 2019 survey found that 83 million Indians, or 25% of the country’s youngsters, were book readers. On the other hand, India’s average weekly reading time is 10 hours per person, more than that of many developed countries. However, I think this figure can be raised.
