24th March, Mumbai: After his brother-in-law, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, went missing for 22 days, actor Shekhar Suman has called for a CBI investigation into the matter, as reported by multiple media outlets.
On March 22, Shekhar Suman met with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav in Patna, urging them to locate his missing brother-in-law. He expressed his concern that the Patna police seem to be unable to make any progress in the case.
It is reported that Dr. Sanjay Kumar hails from Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), while his wife Saloni Kumari works as a professor at the College of Commerce in Patna.
In a recent media interaction, Shekhar Suman disclosed that the last time Dr. Sanjay Kumar was seen was when he left his car at the Mahatma Gandhi Setu. He also mentioned that no extortion calls have been received thus far.
According to Shekhar Suman, Dr. Sanjay Kumar’s last contact with his wife Saloni was on March 1, when he informed her that he would be traveling to Muzaffarpur as an examination controller. However, instead of using his official car, he chose to go in his own vehicle without informing Saloni. Dr. Kumar’s car was discovered parked at the Gandhi Setu, from where he was seen exiting and walking approximately 500 meters before disappearing. Despite utilising divers to search the Ganga river in the event he jumped off the bridge, his body has not been found , as per the district administration.
It appears that this is not a kidnapping case since there has been no contact from the kidnappers to demand a ransom from the family, he added .
