25th March, Mumbai: The actress Patralekhaa, most recently seen in the streaming series “Aar Ya Paar,” is scheduled to begin production on her upcoming film, named “Phule,” in the first week of April.
The actress will play the title role of social activist Savitribai Phule, who is credited with founding India’s feminist movement and with laying the groundwork for women’s education in that country. The wife of Jyotiba Phule, who is credited with transforming India’s social climate by combating caste prejudice, was Savitribai.
Recently, the actress was seen at the director Anant Mahadevan’s workplace. Patralekhaa gave a positive response when the shoot started. She uttered: “Savitribai Phule paved the way for female literacy in the nation. Her life is celebrated as a model for female empowerment. It is an amazing honour to play the pioneer of Indian feminism on cinema.”
Anant Mahadevan, who won the National Film Award for another story with a strong female lead, “Mee Sindhutai Sapkal,” will direct the movie. The movie chronicled the life of social activist Sindhutai Sapkal, who worked to house and raise homeless children.
The coupling of Patralekhaa and Pratik Gandhi in the movie is also novel. In terms of her professional endeavours, Patralekhaa will also be seen with actor Maanvi Gagroo in the road trip drama “Heer Saara,” an untitled dramedy by director Luv Ranjan, and Prime Video’s “Gulkand Tales.” Prateek Gandhi most famous includes Harshad Mehta in Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, and roles in Bhavai and The Great Indian Murder.
