16th March, Mumbai: In talks to co-star in StudioCanal’s love drama We Live in Time are Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh, who shared the Dolby stage as presenters at this year’s Oscars event.
The screenplay is written by playwright Nick Payne, and will be directed by John Crowley, who also made the romantic drama Brooklyn. With the project aiming for a shoot later this year, plot specifics are being kept under wraps.
StudioCanal will create this project under the Sunny March label run by Benedict Cumberbatch. For StudioCanal, senior vp global production Joe Naftalin and executive vp global production Ron Halpern are in charge.
Although Pugh and Garfield haven’t collaborated on a project, their admirers couldn’t stop gushing about them online after they presented the Screenplay Awards together. They were unaware that anything was already in the works.
Hollywood’s most sought-after actress, Florence Pugh, is represented by CAA and Brillstein. In addition to appearing in the Netflix historical drama The Wonder, the Oscar nominee’s film Don’t Worry Darling appeared in theatres last year. The remainder of the year will see her appear in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and Dune: Part Two, which opens in October. She will soon be in theatres with A Good Person, in which she will co-star with Morgan Freeman. Her Black Widow character as Yelena Belova will be reprised when she starts filming Thunderbolts for Marvel Studios.
The most recent Emmy nomination for Garfield, who is represented by CAA, was for his performance in the miniseries Under the Banner of Heaven. Last year, he also received an Oscar nomination for Tick, Tick, Boom! He will play the eccentric businessman Richard Branson in the David Leitch television series Hot Air.
