Jailer 2 Box Office Rajinikanth's Film Nears ₹600 Crore

Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 has completed a record-breaking first week in theatres, crossing Rs 300 crore net in India in just seven days to become the fastest Tamil film ever to reach the mark. According to trade trackers, the Nelson Dilipkumar directorial has collected Rs 317.20 crore net in India after seven days, while its worldwide gross stands at about Rs 582 crore. The film, which released on October 15, now heads into its second week with the all-time Tamil records firmly in sight.

Jailer 2 Box Office First Week Collections: Rs 317.20 Crore Net in India

The film opened to a massive Rs 59.70 crore net on day one and, after the usual second-day dip, climbed steadily through the extended Dussehra holiday period. Days three to six all stayed above Rs 42 crore, a level of consistency that very few Indian films manage in their first week.

Here is the day-wise India net collection of Jailer 2 in its first week, according to trade trackers:

Day

India Net Collection

Day 1   Rs 59.70 crore
Day 2 Rs 37.10 crore
Day 3 Rs 47.25 crore
Day 4 Rs 55.85 crore
Day 5 Rs 42.35 crore
Day 6 Rs 46.80 crore
Day 7 Rs 28.15 crore
Total (7 days) Rs 317.20 crore

Adding the gross figures, the India gross after seven days stands at Rs 371.45 crore, while the overseas markets have contributed about Rs 211 crore gross, taking the worldwide total to roughly Rs 582 crore.

Jailer 2 released in multiple languages, including a Hindi version, and its run in the Hindi belt has drawn particular attention. A reported dispute between the producers and PVR-Inox over the OTT window for the Hindi version kept the trade talking through the week, even as audiences in the north followed the latest entertainment news in Hindi for daily updates on the film's collections. The multi-language release has clearly helped the film hold screens beyond its southern strongholds.

The Records Jailer 2 Has Broken

The headline record is the speed of the Rs 300 crore milestone. Jailer 2 reached Rs 300 crore India net in seven days, faster than any Tamil film before it. Rajinikanth's own 2.0 took eight days to get there, Leo took eleven days, and the first Jailer needed sixteen days back in 2023.

The records extend beyond India. As reported by Indian Express, the film has crossed £1.4 million at the UK box office, and it has set new Kollywood benchmarks for the highest first weekend and the highest first week collections. For a sequel arriving three years after the original, the numbers underline the pull of the Tiger Muthuvel Pandian character and of the Rajinikanth and Nelson combination, supported by Anirudh Ravichander's music and a cast that includes Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, Ramya Krishnan, Mithun Chakraborty and S. J. Suryah.

The Wednesday Dip and the Week Two Test

The first real slowdown came on Wednesday, day seven, once the Dussehra holiday effect faded. Collections dropped to Rs 28.15 crore net, and ticketing data reflected the same cooling: BookMyShow recorded about 5.02 lakh bookings on Wednesday, down from 7.89 lakh on Tuesday. The three big multiplex chains, PVR, INOX and Cinepolis, together sold 2,16,302 tickets on Wednesday for Rs 6.53 crore gross, at an occupancy of 56.5 percent.

Early estimates for day eight, Thursday, point to a softer start to the second week, with early trackers placing the day at around Rs 14 crore in India. A drop of this kind is normal for a front-loaded release once the holidays end, and trade watchers will look at the second Friday and the weekend trend to judge how high the film can climb from here. What is already settled is the scale of the first week: Jailer 2 has given Tamil cinema its fastest Rs 300 crore film and its biggest first week ever.

With Rs 582 crore worldwide in seven days, Jailer 2 now moves into week two as the film to beat this festive season. The next milestone is also in view: at the current pace, the worldwide gross will cross Rs 600 crore in the coming days, and the trade will be watching whether the film can sustain enough momentum to chase the biggest Tamil totals of all time.
