29th May 2023, Mumbai: Varun Dhawan, the renowned actor, embarked on a captivating journey to Abu Dhabi, where he unveiled intriguing revelations about his highly anticipated series, Citadel. Directed by the talented duo Raj & DK, the series boasts the prominent presence of Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The launch of Citadel, featuring the stellar duo of Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden, on an OTT platform left an indelible mark on the audience, leaving them eager for Varun and Samantha’s forthcoming series. Recently, Varun shared his plans to travel to Serbia for the filming of action-packed scenes.
In an exclusive interview with PTI, Varun Dhawan passionately delved into the intricacies of working on Citadel. He emphasized that this groundbreaking series would offer a unique experience for the Indian audience. “Working on Citadel has been an absolutely fantastic journey,” expressed Varun. He further disclosed that Serbia had been chosen as the filming location, adding that their schedule would be packed for the entire month. The scale of this series is unprecedented in India, promising an unparalleled viewing experience. Varun even commended the creators for their boundary-pushing endeavors. Praising Samantha, he acknowledged her as one of the most dedicated and hardworking actors in the industry.
“The creators of Citadel are truly pushing the boundaries,” continued Varun. “Samantha and I are striving for nothing short of excellence. Her work ethic is truly inspiring.” Apart from discussing Citadel, the actor also shared insights into his upcoming film, Bawaal, where he will be seen on-screen alongside Janhvi Kapoor for the first time. Varun expressed his pride in being a part of Bawaal, explaining, “There are certain directors who have always been on my bucket list. Nitesh Tiwari (Bawaal), Sriram Raghavan (Badlapur), and Shoojit Sircar (October) are among them. Collaborating with these visionary directors pushes me to deliver my best performances. Working with Nitesh has been an incredible experience, and Bawaal holds a special place in my heart. It represents something that is much-needed in the industry.”
Bawaal, the highly anticipated film, is set to premiere in theaters this October. While awaiting its release, Varun Dhawan made a noteworthy appearance in Priyanka’s Citadel, lending his voice to the character of Priyanka’s father in the fifth episode. The role of her father is portrayed by the talented British-Indian actor, Paul Bazely. Speculations suggest that the Indian version of Citadel, rumored to be a precursor to Priyanka’s Citadel, may feature Varun portraying a younger Rahi Gambhir (Priyanka’s father).
