3rd June 2023, Mumbai: The year 2022 proved to be a challenging one for Bollywood, as only a few films managed to achieve success at the box office. However, the current year, 2023, is showing signs of improvement with a number of hits emerging. Among the films that have dominated the box office, two stand out: “Pathaan” and “The Kerala Story.”
While “Pathaan” has a significant lead in terms of overall collections, “The Kerala Story” has managed to surpass it in the fourth week. Adah Sharma, the star of “The Kerala Story,” has garnered an impressive Rs. 18.15 crores in the fourth week, surpassing the earnings of the Shah Rukh Khan starrer spy action film, which amassed Rs. 14.31 crores during the same period. Directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, “The Kerala Story” has proven to be a remarkable success, accumulating a staggering total of Rs. 231.72 crores. This achievement is noteworthy considering the absence of prominent stars and limited entertainment factors. On the other hand, “Pathaan” concluded its theatrical run with an unimaginable lifetime collection of Rs. 543.05 crores.
When examining the highest fourth week earners of 2023, the remaining five spots on the list are occupied by “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar,” “Bholaa,” “Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway,” “Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan,” and “Shehzada.” These films have also experienced substantial success in their respective fourth weeks, contributing to the overall positive trend at the box office this year.
