20th May 2023, Mumbai: Raveena Tandon and Govinda formed a popular on-screen pair in the 90s and delivered several amazing films together. Their chemistry and comic timing were impeccable, resulting in notable movies like ‘Dulhe Raja’ and ‘Aunty No. 1’. However, Govinda’s reputation for arriving late on set and being considered unprofessional has been talked about by people who worked with him.In a recent interview with ETimes, Raveena Tandon opened up about her experience working with Govinda.
She revealed that while she would be punctual and reach the sets on time, Govinda would often arrive 5-6 hours late. Surprisingly, this never posed a problem for her or others involved in the project. Raveena described herself as a producer’s and director’s actor, believing that it was her responsibility to be on time since the producer had allocated her dates. She would arrive at 9 am, knowing that Govinda would come much later, around 2:30 or 3 pm. During this waiting time, Raveena would make use of the opportunity to rest, read a book, or catch up on sleep since they used to work on multiple shifts in a day during those times.
Raveena Tandon acknowledged that Govinda’s late arrival never caused any issues because he was exceptionally talented and versatile in his work. Raveena explained that they were all feeding off each other’s energy to some extent, so it was not fair to blame him. She took advantage of the waiting time to get some beauty sleep, and when Govinda finally arrived, she would wake up, do her touch-up, and be completely fresh for the shoot. She enjoyed this routine and made the most of the situation.
Furthermore, Raveena revealed that the producers were accustomed to Govinda’s style of work. He was quick at preparing for a scene, and his films were performing well at the box office, which made the producers more tolerant of his late arrivals. Therefore, nobody complained about his behavior.
