Shah Rukh Khan’s new King poster has divided fans. While some like its action-heavy concept, others have criticized the actor’s styling and the heavy editing.
The poster shows SRK walking through fire with a rose in his mouth and a gun in his hand. His caption also references his 1999 film Baadshah. The action thriller is scheduled to release in cinemas on December 24, 2026.
Shah Rukh Khan’s New King Poster Draws Criticism From Fans
Shah Rukh shared the poster on Instagram with the caption, “Aaj phir yaad aaya... Qaatil nahi… Aashiq hoon… #KING In cinemas 24.12.26.” The line recalls the romantic side of Baadshah while giving his new character a darker edge. However, the poster’s visual treatment did not impress everyone.

Reddit user @iameenshaik criticized the similarities between the actor’s recent action films, writing, “At this point SRK isn't making different movies, he's just changing hairstyles while the background destruction budget keeps increasing.”
Another user, @ailaa_gogo, liked the overall concept but felt the editing weakened the final result. They commented, “Poster concept and design is good but overly edited aspect ruins it. King announcement video didn't have this. Why they did this in poster makes no sense.”
Some viewers also questioned the visual effects. @bitchaari wrote, “Ai is ruining everything.” Meanwhile, @Zealousidealx304 expressed concern about the film’s CGI, commenting, “King will be another CGI cringe fest like Pathaan”.
King’s First Look and Release Date Announcement
The makers unveiled the title King on November 2, 2025, on Shah Rukh’s 60th birthday. The first glimpse showed him with silver hair and a fierce action-hero look. It also featured the dialogue, “Darr nahi, dehshat hoon.” The makers announced the film’s theatrical release date in January 2026.
Fans have also been waiting for updates about the film’s trailer. During a recent AskSRK session on social media, a fan asked why the wait was taking so long. Shah Rukh explained that he was not deliberately keeping audiences waiting and wanted the team to put together a film that would satisfy them.
He replied, “Ab picture hi dekho na! Tarsa nahi raha join acchhi wali bana raha hoon....ke Dil ko tasalli mile....Sab ayega…24th Dec se pehle (Watch the film directly. I am depriving you of anything, just making a good film. Have patience, everything will release before December 24).”
