1st April 2023 Mumbai: Recently, Priyanka Chopra admitted that her decision to leave Bollywood was motivated by politics. The actress had said that when she moved to Hollywood some ten years ago, she was seeking a “escape from Bollywood” because she felt like she was “being driven into a corner in the industry.” In addition, Priyanka claimed that Hindi movies “weren’t casting her.” Following Priyanka’s statement, a number of Bollywood celebrities, including Kangana Ranaut, Vivek Agnihotri, and Shekhar Suman, expressed their thoughts on the subject. Actress Neetu Chandra has since responded to Priyanka’s statement.
Neetu was asked to weigh in on what Priyanka had said about politics in Bollywood at a recent function. Neetu Chandra responded in a video that was posted on an Instagram page for paparazzi, saying, “Ke sabke sath hota hai, it is not like kisi ek ke sath hota hai (it happens with everyone, not only with a certain individual).” Neetu continued, “If you don’t come from a film family, you have to struggle for opportunities in this profession. Doing good work takes time. I experienced it, as did Priyanka. Many others have experienced it as well. The key question is whether you can speak up about it or not.”
In a recent interview with Dax Shepherd on the podcast Armchair Expert, Priyanka Chopra discussed dealing with politics in Bollywood and the actual reason she went to the US. “I was unhappy with the work I was receiving in Bollywood,” Priyanka has previously stated. “I will discuss this for the first time since I am uncomfortable doing so. I was once seen in a music video and called by Anjali Acharya of Desi Hits. I was a Saat Khoon Maaf actor at the time. Anjali questioned me about pursuing a music career in the United States. At the time, I was seeking a distraction from Bollywood. I was seeking for a method to leave this place. The industry was trying to force me into a corner. I wasn’t getting any castings. I had grievances against people. Such video games are not my strong suit. Politics had worn me out, and I needed a break.”
2015 saw Priyanka make her US television debut with Quantico. Since then, she has also appeared in a number of Hollywood movies, such as Baywatch (2017) and The Matrix Resurrections (2021). Priyanka will next be seen with Game of Thrones actor Richard Madden in the spy drama Citadel. A new trailer for Citadel was released on Thursday by Prime Video. It provided a closer look at the train accident that appeared to be the demise of the prestigious spy agency Citadel. On April 28, Citadel becomes available on Amazon Video.
