9th May 2023, Mumbai: The trailer for the upcoming Bollywood film “Sirf Ek Banda Kafi Hai” featuring Manoj Bajpayee has recently been released, but the film has already been embroiled in controversy.
While there are no specific details provided as to what the controversies are about, it is being speculated that the film is based on true events and a courtroom drama shown in the trailer has led to speculation that the film is based on Asaram Bapu. However, the makers of the film have not made any such claims, nor have they used the name of Asaram Bapu in the trailer.
Despite the lack of any direct reference to Asaram Bapu, the character played by Manoj Bajpayee in the film has led to speculation that the story is inspired by the case against Asaram Bapu. In real life, a lawyer named PC Solanki had fought a case against Asaram Bapu, and Manoj Bajpayee plays the role of a lawyer named PC Solanki in the film. As a result, the Asaram Bapu Trust has taken action against the film, issuing a notice against the makers of the film and seeking a stay from the court on the promotion and release of the film.
The counsel for the Asaram Bapu Trust has claimed that the film is objectionable and defamatory towards their client and may tarnish his reputation and hurt the sentiments of his devotees and followers. Confirming the receipt of the notice, filmmaker Aasif Sheikh has stated that the production team has purchased the rights from PC Solanki to make a biopic about him, but if someone thinks that the film is made on Asaram Bapu, they are entitled to their opinion.
As of now, the production team’s lawyers will be deciding on the next steps to take regarding the notice issued by the Asaram Bapu Trust. Despite the controversy surrounding the film, the trailer has managed to captivate the audience, leaving them with goosebumps and questioning whether the film is based on the case against Asaram Bapu.
However, until the release of the film or any official statement from the makers, it remains uncertain whether the film is actually based on Asaram Bapu or not.
