25th February, Mumbai: Can anyone else take better care of the children than the parents? In the context of India, your answer will be no. But, there is a country in the world which takes children into their custody if they do not even take care of their hygiene.
When a baby is born in the family of us Indians, it is as lovely as a flower for the parents as well as for every member of the family. She is an incarnation of Pari for some, Krishna for some and Lakshmi for some. We all pamper her a lot. Kisses her cheeks. Let’s feed him with our hands. Makes him sleep in his lap. He gets the place between parents on the bed, but there is a country in the world where these things are banned. You cannot touch your baby beyond a limit. You cannot feed him with your hand. You can’t make her sleep with you.
These things may seem strange to you. but it’s true. Due to these strict rules and regulations, even an Indian couple had to suffer. Both their children were taken away from that couple. Their only crime was that they used to feed the children with their hands instead of a spoon and put them to sleep on their bed. This was considered a very serious crime and the children were taken away from them.
Actually, this incident is not much but about 10 years old. The incident came into limelight all over the world after two children aged three and one years were taken away from the Indian couple. Later, after a long legal battle, the mother got custody of these children. Now preparations are on to take this whole poignant story on the film screen as well. A film is being made on this, in which Rani Mukherjee, the top actress of her time, is going to play the role of the mother of these children. The film’s trailer was released a day earlier.
In 2011, Anoot Bhattacharya and his wife Sagarika lived there. He had two children. The eldest child was three-year-old Avigyan while the second daughter was one-year-old Aishwarya. The couple was living a happy life there. Both were pampering their children a lot, but one day suddenly the rights of the Norwegian government came and took away both the children from this couple. The officials accused the couple of feeding the children with their own hands. This is considered force-feeding under Norwegian law and is a crime. Apart from this, the couple was also accused of not wearing proper clothes to their children. Also, do not provide enough space for them to play.
The Norwegian Child Protection Service had said that these children sleep in the same bed with their parents which is wrong according to the law. This incident had also reached the level of the Government of India and Norway. After the diplomatic intervention of the Government of India, the administration there gave the custody of these children to their uncle and they were asked to take them to India.
There was an earthquake in Sagarika’s personal life as well.
In this whole incident, Sagarika, the mother of the children, was hit twice. On the one hand her children were taken away from her and on the other hand her tussle with her husband started. Then Sagarika had to fight a long battle to get the custody of these children.
Actually, child welfare service is operated in Norway for the overall development of children. This is a very powerful service. It is responsible for the protection of children in Norway. This service is available in every municipality. It is a constitutional body there and decides that all the children living in this country get proper health and development services. If the institution feels that if a baby is not getting proper health and development facilities, then it will take them under its custody. Even if the parents are raising the children. After taking custody, these children are released even after attaining the age of 18 years.
Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway will showcase this powerful story and Rani Mukerjee is already gaining praise for her performance.
