The Numero Uno female star in the world’s most populous country, Deepika Padukone, explained: “My mission has always been to be global while still being rooted in my country.”Deepika Padukone, a legend in her own right who has generated nearly $350 million in global box office receipts and is now India’s highest paid actress, talks about India’s growing influence in the world. She adds, “Indian cinema has crossed borders and Indians are everywhere, so fame goes wherever you go.”

Reporters Asked the superstar what she wants to achieve next and she was quick to reply, “This is India’s moment. So how can I take the best of East and West? There is India with our roots, heritage, history, but there is also a new and young India emerging. It’s these two Indias coming together that I find really fascinating at the moment.”
