23rd March, Mumbai: Kangana Ranaut, recognized for her polarising social media presence, has dismissed recent reports regarding Thalaivii distributors demanding a Rs 6 crore refund following the movie’s disappointing performance at the box office. The actress, who played the role of former actress and politician J Jayalalithaa in the film, deemed the reports as “fake propaganda” and shared her rebuttal on Instagram.
In a written statement, she criticised news outlets for disseminating ‘false propaganda’
Kangana asserted that the reports of distributors demanding a refund for Thalaivii were false and were being spread by the film mafia. According to her, she had already sold the film to Zee Studios and it had recovered all its cost even before its release. She also pointed out that it has been two years since the film’s release.
Kangana Ranaut took to another Instagram story to address the endless circulation of fake news about her and urged her followers to ignore those who are envious of her.
Thalaivii, which was directed by AL Vijay and featured actors such as Arvind Swami, Madhoo, and Bhagyashree, was released in multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
In her upcoming projects, Kangana Ranaut will be playing the role of late Indian Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, in her own directorial venture called “Emergency”. Additionally, she will also be appearing in P Vasu’s upcoming film, “Chandramukhi 2”, alongside Raghava Lawrence.
