5th April 2023, Mumbai: Brahmastra, the highly anticipated Indian fantasy trilogy film directed by Ayan Mukerji, has been making waves since its announcement in 2017. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles, the first part of the trilogy was released on September 9,2022 . However, now the director has announced that he needs more time to finish the movie and therefore the release dates for the next two parts of the series have been delayed.
Recently, Ayan Mukerji took to his social media handle to announce the new release date of Brahmastra Part 2, titled ‘Brahmastra: part 2- Dev’. Originally scheduled to release in Diwali 2025, the film’s release date has been postponed to December 2026, and Brahmastra part 3 will be released in 2027 due to various reasons.
The director Ayan Mukerji wrote a long note on his social media handle where he stated that “The Time has come – for some updates on the Brahmästra Trilogy, the Astraverse, and my Life After absorbing all the love and the feedback on Part One… I have been focused on creating the Vision for Part Two and Part Three. which I now know will be bigger and more ambitious than Part One! I have learnt that we need a little more time to perfect the script of Brahmästra Two and Three. And. I have decided that we are going to make two films… Together!”
He also further added “Allowing them to also release closer together! I have a timeline in place to achieve this, which I am sharing with you all today!I also have another piece of news to share. The Universe has presented me with a very special opportunity recently – a very special movie – to step into and direct! What the movie is… More on that when the time is right 🙂 An opportunity to chat challenges me and terribly excites me… one where I will learn, be inspired and where I will grow! So, I have decided to take it up!!”.
Despite the delays, the anticipation and excitement for Brahmastra Part 2 and 3 remain high among fans. The first part of the film was so good that it received an overwhelming response from the audience. The movie showcased stunning visuals and hinted at the supernatural elements that the film will explore.
In conclusion, the delay in the release of Brahmastra Part 2 and 3 is understandable given the scope and ambition of the project. The filmmakers are striving to create a new superhero franchise that will rival Hollywood films, and it’s clear that they’re leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the film meets their vision.
