There were always warning indications. After Friday’s earnings (5.90 crores) were nearly identical to Thursday’s (5.95 crores), it was obvious that the movie would have a significant increase on Saturday. The scenario would have been set for a very good trending even if Friday’s receipts had been in the 5.50 crore area. However, nearly identical statistics on both days indicated that the stability issue had been resolved, and it was now time for the film to restart its growth.
This is what took place on Saturday, when the movie took off brilliantly and brought in a very respectable 11.50 crores*. This is great because, like the previous weekend, the Saturday jump paves the way for yet another fantastic weekend because Sunday will be even better. In fact, even a 20%–30% increase now on Sunday would produce a very healthy total. There is absolutely no competition for the movie, and even though some older movies (DDLJ, Jab We Met, Titanic, Tamasha, etc.) have been showing in a few cities at one or two shows, Pathaan continues to take up more than 90% of notable screens; therefore, even a low occupancy will produce good numbers.
The Shah Rukh Khan movie has already earned 476.30 crores*, and today it will surpass the 490 crore threshold. A mere 10 crores or so would need to be contributed from there for the 500 Crore Club entrance to be made, and that will now occur this week.
