The movie’s increase to 5.22 crores on Saturday brought some solace to Doctor G. The movie made 3.87 crores on Friday, so it’s encouraging to see that the numbers have increased by more than a crore. This hasn’t always been the case for other films this year that have had opening weekends between 2-4 crores.
Having said that, if the movie had to have a successful weekend overall, one would have anticipated a higher number. Collections needed to be on the side of 6 crores rather than 5 crores for the growth to be truly substantial. If that had occurred, it would have been safe to state that Doctor G is on track to become a success story.
For the time being, though, Doctor G is still in a wait-and-see situation as another strong performance is required on Sunday when box office receipts will almost certainly surpass 6 crores and ideally approach 6.50 crores.
Doctor G has so far made 9.09 crores, and it appears that the first weekend will bring in more than 15 crores. That would eventually be sufficient, but as previously indicated, further development and stability are required, particularly given that the movie primarily has 10 days of unbroken runtime left before the arrival of the two major Diwali blockbusters Ram Setu and Thank God.
