Anjali Arora has received a legal notice seeking Rs 1.20 crore in damages following a dispute at a Kanpur event. The organisers of Nagada Night have accused the influencer of leaving the show midway and making derogatory remarks about the city’s residents. They have also demanded a public apology within 15 days.

According to Amar Ujala, the organisers sent the notice to Anjali and her manager, Preeti Dubey. The dispute stems from the Nagada Night Dandiya event held at Lajpat Bhawan Lawn in Kanpur on October 15, 2026. The organisers allege that Anjali left before completing her scheduled appearance, causing disruption and financial losses.

The legal notice reportedly seeks Rs 1 crore for alleged defamation and Rs 20 lakh for financial losses. The organisers have also submitted an application at Swaroop Nagar police station seeking a fraud case against Anjali and her manager. However, the filing of an application does not mean that an FIR has been registered or that the allegations have been proven.

The controversy began after videos from the event circulated online. One clip showed Anjali confronting the DJ after the song Kacha Badam played, while other footage showed her expressing displeasure with the event arrangements. The incident drew attention because the song had helped her gain widespread recognition through a viral dance reel.

Why Are the Organisers Seeking Rs 1.20 Crore From Anjali Arora?

According to advocate Karim Ahmed Siddiqui, who represents the organisers, Anjali was expected to remain on stage for 45 minutes. Her planned appearance also included presenting mementoes to sponsors and special guests. The organisers allege that her early departure left these commitments incomplete and caused embarrassment to attendees.

The organisers further claim that they paid Anjali Rs 3 lakh for the appearance and spent more than Rs 1 lakh on her travel arrangements. They argue that the incident damaged their reputation and affected the event financially. Siddiqui has also warned that the organisers may approach the court if the police do not register a case.

Anjali, however, has offered a different account of the incident. In videos shared on social media, she cited alleged mismanagement, inappropriate behaviour and security concerns as reasons for leaving the venue. She also clarified that her objection was directed at the conduct of certain individuals, not the people of Kanpur as a whole.

The dispute now involves competing allegations from both sides. The organisers are seeking compensation and a public apology, while Anjali has raised concerns about her experience at the event. As of the latest reports, the allegations remain disputed, and no final legal finding has been reported.
