8th May 2023 Mumbai: Bollywood films with a variety of themes have been backed by Anand Pandit, including but not limited to Sarkar 3, Total Dhamaal, PM Narendra Modi, The Big Bull, Chehre, Thank God, and others. But he has also dabbled in regional content in recent years. Last year, his debut Gujarati film Fakt Mahilao Maate was a huge hit.
Pandit was recently asked about his interest in backing regional content these days. He said, “After the pandemic and the emergence of OTT, language is not a barrier. People are even watching Korean, Spanish, English and Gujarati films. And my theory is that the more local a content is, the more global it will be. Earlier there were people who only used to watch Hindi films. But that is no longer the case now. They want good entertainment.” “Plus, regional content is much more original,” he said. “
It doesn’t come inspired from somewhere. For example, Marathi films are made based on Marathi novels. Whereas there is some other influence in Hindi. So, people have now started liking original cinema. They are ready to experiment with their habit of viewing films. I felt this is a very big opportunity,” he added.
Pandit recently announced two Marathi films with the well-known Swapnil Joshi. Speaking about his association with him, Pandit said, “Swapnil is a renowned actor and hero of Marathi films. He is a very fine actor and a nicely behaved person. So, it’s very easy to work with him. He also has a good understanding of stories. I had two proposals for Marathi films. My team showed him the script. He loved them. So, we did an agreement for two films.”
In an earlier interaction, Pandit also revealed that they are thinking about making a sequel to Fakt Mahilao Maate.
