3rd October 2023, Mumbai: Amitabh Bachchan is set to join the star-studded cast of Rajinikanth’s upcoming film, Thalaivar 170, marking their reunion on screen after 32 years. The news was officially announced by the production house Lyca Productions.

In a tweet, Lyca Productions welcomed Amitabh Bachchan, referring to him as the “Shahenshah of Indian cinema,” and expressed excitement about having him on board for Thalaivar 170. The film, directed by TJ Gnanavel, is expected to be a compelling entertainer with a social message. Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth last worked together in the family drama “Hum” in 1991. While they have not shared the screen since then, Amitabh Bachchan has been a staunch supporter of Rajinikanth’s work. He even participated in a press conference for the film “Robot,” in which his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai starred alongside Rajinikanth.
Thalaivar 170 Starcast
The currently untitled film has been in the spotlight since its announcement in March. Anirudh Ravichander is set to compose the music, and the movie will be produced by Subaskaran. Joining Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan in the cast are Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Ritika Singh, Manju Warrier, and Dushara Vijayan. The film is eagerly anticipated by fans, given the stellar lineup of talent both in front of and behind the camera.
