The plot of Jawan has been a secret for the past two years, with the only part that was discussed being Shah Rukh Khan’s dual role as the movie’s USP. The plot and potential sources from which the movie may have drawn inspiration have all been subject to media conjecture, but the real inspiration has remained a mystery.
Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, is said to have drawn inspiration from Amitabh Bachchan’s Aakhree Raasta, which was itself an official adaptation of the Tamil film Oru Kaidhiyin Diary, starring Kamal Haasan. Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan played the roles of a father and son, respectively, in the films Akhree Raasta and Oru Kaidhiyin Diary. Similar to this, Shah Rukh Khan plays both a father and a son in Jawan. Jawan is a revenge story with similar conflict elements to Akhree Raasta, a source told Bollywood Hungama.
The main section of the plot was taken from Oru Kaidhiyin Diary because Atlee is a big fan of the Kamal Haasan original. “However, it’s an inspiration rather than a remake. In order to create a new story for today’s audience, Atlee took the basic plot and modified it. The source went on to say, “The therapy is quite sophisticated, yet the feelings remain the same. On June 2, 2023, Jawan is scheduled to be released, and further details about the narrative will become available soon. The characters, their characteristics, and their trajectory are unquestionably consistent with the world of Oru Kaidhiyin Diary, regardless of whether it is an official remake or only an inspiration.
