29th March 2023, Mumbai: Despite coming from a lineage of actors and being the granddaughter of a Nawab, Sara Ali Khan identifies as a Mumbai girl and doesn’t associate herself with royalty. Her parents are Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, while her grandparents are Sharmila Tagore and Mansoor Ali Khan, the last Nawab of Pataudi. Even though her great-grandfather was the final ruler of the Pataudi state during the British Raj, Sara spoke about her ordinary upbringing in Mumbai and living a modest life disconnected from her royal ancestry
Sara Ali Khan’s latest movie “Gaslight” features her playing the character of Meesha, a young woman in a wheelchair who returns home to find her father absent and her stepmother and staff unable to assist her. The psychological thriller, helmed by director Pawan Kripalani, was shot on a grand estate, providing a perfect backdrop for the eerie plotline. However, despite being born into a family with a royal lineage, Sara Ali Khan has stated that she was raised far away from any lavish lifestyle depicted in the film. Her character’s struggles may have highlighted her vulnerability, but in real life, Sara has shown strength and resilience in pursuing her career as an actress. Additionally, Sara mentioned that she prefers to vacation in places such as Himachal Pradesh, Kedarnath, and Jammu and Kashmir. After her parents’ divorce in 2004, Sara Ali Khan and her younger brother Ibrahim Ali Khan were raised by their mother, Amrita Singh.
