30th May 2023, Mumbai: Renowned Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan graced the trailer launch event of the much-anticipated Punjabi film, Carry On Jatta 3, held in Mumbai on Tuesday. Alongside Aamir Khan, the film’s stellar cast, including Gippy Grewal and Sonam Bajwa, among others, were also present, adding to the excitement of the occasion.
During the event, Aamir Khan was questioned about the apparent decline of Bollywood stars in Punjabi cinema, as legendary actors like Shatrughan Sinha, Sunil Dutt, and Raj Kapoor had previously appeared in Punjabi films. In response, Aamir expressed his perspective, stating, “If the story appeals to me, language becomes secondary. If it is an engaging narrative and I have a fondness for it, I am willing to learn the language and take part.”
He further elaborated, “Back then, stars like Yusuf Sahab (Dilip Kumar) and Raj Kapoor were naturally inclined towards Punjabi films as Punjabi was their first language. For us, it may require a little more effort. While Punjabi is not my first language, I am open to the idea of doing Punjabi films if the opportunity arises.” Aamir then turned to Smeep Kang, the director of Carry On Jatta 3, and jovially expressed, “If you have a good film, please let me know. I have previously worked in comedy films like Andaaz Apna Apna, and I have a keen interest in exploring the genre.”
Aamir Khan also shared the reason behind his presence at the trailer launch of Carry On Jatta 3. He mentioned, “Gippy is like family to me. He messaged me with the invitation, and I immediately inquired about the date. After watching the trailer, I was thoroughly impressed. Although I don’t watch many films, this trailer provided me with immense entertainment, making me eager to watch the movie. I believe the film will be a tremendous success, and I appreciate the effort to make this entertaining film reach a pan-Indian audience.”
Although Aamir Khan confessed that he hadn’t seen the previous two installments of Carry On Jatta, he found the trailer of the third part extremely captivating. He added, “After witnessing the trailer, I asked Gippy Grewal why the first two films were hits. The trailer itself offered me such a delightful experience that it intensified my desire to watch the film. I am confident that the movie will be a blockbuster, and it’s commendable that you are making this entertaining film accessible to people across the nation.” Carry On Jatta 3 is all set to hit theaters on June 29, promising a delightful cinematic experience for audiences.
