Unni Mukundan

Unnikrishnan Mukundan popularly known as Unni Mukundan, is an Indian actor, singer, lyricist and film producer who predominantly works in Malayalam cinema. His latest movie Marco achieved universal acclaim and it is currently the highest grossing A-rated action thriller of Malayalam film industry.

Unni Mukundan was born in Thrissur, Kerala on 22 September 1987 to Malayali parents Madathiparambil Mukundan Nair and Roji Mukundan. He was brought up in Ahmedabad. 

Unni Mukundan made his film debut in 2011 with the Tamil film Seedan. He entered the Malayalam film industry with Bombay March 12, earning awards for Best Newcomer. His breakthrough role came with the 2012 film Mallu Singh, which became a huge hit. He went on to appear in various Malayalam films, including Thalsamayam Oru Penkutty, I Love Me, and Orissa. Unni also made his Tollywood debut with Janatha Garage in 2016 and went on to appear in Telugu films like Bhaagamathie and Khiladi. Throughout his career, Unni has demonstrated his versatility as an actor, playing a range of roles from romantic leads to villains. He has received several awards and nominations for his performances, including the Ramu Kariat Movie Award for Best Actor for his role in Clint. His next appearance was in Malikappuram which earned him critical acclaim and praise. In the Telugu film Yashoda, he portrayed a negative role. In 2024, he starred in Jai Ganesh, which he also produced, and portrayed a negative character in the Tamil film, Garudan. He next starred in Marco, a spin-off of the eponymous character from Mikhael which opened to positive reviews, it emerged as a huge box-office success and also his first 100 crore film, further cementing his position as a bankable artist. 

He completed his schooling from Pragati Higher Secondary School in Ahmedabad and graduated in English Literature and Journalism from Prajyoti Niketan College, Pudukad (Thrissur). 

Unni Mukundan is single and unmarried. 

Unni Mukundan has a good height of 5’11 and has black coloured eyes and black coloured hairs. 

Unni Mukundan has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career, solidifying his position as a talented and versatile actor in the Malayalam film industry. His impressive award collection includes several Best Newcomer and Best Debut Actor awards for his role in Bombay March 12, as well as Youth Icon Awards at the Pravasi Express Awards and Anand TV Film Awards UK. He has also won Best Actor Awards for his performances in Clint and Meppadiyan, and Best Actor in a Negative Role for Mikhael. Additionally, Unni has received recognition for his work as a producer, winning the Best Film award at the Bengaluru International Film Festival for Meppadiyan. His most recent honour is the West Bengal Governor’s Excellence Award, a testament to his enduring impact on the film industry.
