29 June 2023, Mumbai: In a recent episode of The Kapil Sharma Show, lyricist Sayeed Quadri, known for his work on the songs of the film ‘Murder,’ was a guest. The promo for the upcoming episode featured Sayeed sharing insights into what inspired him to write the lyrics for the popular song “Bheege Honth Tere” from the 2004 film.
Host Kapil Sharma welcomed Sayeed Quadri and recited the lyrics of the song, humorously asking him how he ended up being so thirsty. Sayeed responded with a witty remark, saying, “I am from Rajasthan, that’s why I have so much thirst.” Kapil jokingly added that if that were the case, the lyrics of the song could have been about camels instead of wet lips, leaving everyone amused.
Directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Mukesh Bhatt, ‘Murder’ starred Emraan Hashmi, Mallika Sherawat, and Ashmit Patel. The film was set in Bangkok and was based on the 2002 American film ‘Unfaithful.’ It achieved success at the box office, and its songs played a significant role in its popularity. Sayeed Quadri penned four songs for the film, including “Bheege Honth Tere,” “Kaho Na Kaho,” “Zindagi Iss Tarah,” and “Jaana Tere Mein.”
However, despite their on-screen chemistry, Emraan Hashmi and Mallika Sherawat are no longer in touch. Mallika revealed during an interview on The Love Laugh Live show in 2021 that they had a misunderstanding during the film’s promotions, which led to a rift between them. She described their falling out as childish and uncalled for, expressing regret over losing touch with Emraan. Mallika praised Emraan as a wonderful co-star, highlighting his friendly and giving nature.
‘Murder’ went on to spawn two more instalments in 2011 and 2013, but the original film remains a significant milestone in the careers of its cast and crew. The songs, including “Bheege Honth Tere,” continue to be popular among audiences.
